eNOVATION

The European-funded eNOVATION project was launched in Leuven on 23 and 24 September 2024. The project is coordinated by the National Crisis Center and will better prepare first responders for CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) risks. To achieve this, advanced training methods will be developed.

In today's rapidly changing world, chemical and biological risks pose a serious threat. First responders (including police, civil protection, fire brigade, military and emergency medical services) are at risk of exposure to these hazards during interventions. This risk is often underestimated or overlooked, especially upon arrival at the incident. The aim of the eNOVATION project is to increase the preparedness of these first responders so that they are better equipped to deal with such risks.

eNOVATION's ambition is to transform and expand the existing network of eNOTICE CBRN training centers into a sustainable European capability. In addition to the training centers of the EU Member States, the CBRN Centers of Excellence from partner countries will also be involved, creating a broadly supported network focused on emergency planning and crisis management for CBRN threats.
